Homegoing of Vernice Smith
Vernice Smith was born January 13, 1950, in Mississippi to Willis and Inead Williams. Vernice was married to William Morris Smith Sr. Vernice confessed her life to Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Vernice moved to Alabama where she joined Faith Rest Church of Christ in Alabama as a minster under the leadership of Pastor Alfred Ellington.
Vernice had a special gift of childrearing, as she helped raise a host of nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart. If you were in need, she would try to offer her hospitality. Vernice loved to travel, she lived in several states MS, IL, Ala and NC. Vernice loved to fish, she could tell you where all the good sports were and if you didn’t catch a perch or bream, you didn’t know how to fish.
On June 30, 2022, God called his beloved daughter to rest. Vernice preceded in death by her parents Willie and Inead Williams her brothers, Johnny, Eddie Willie Jr, James and W.C Williams, sisters Alberta Temms and Mary Ann Williams. She leaves to cherish her memories with her beloved husband William Morris Smith SR. her seven children; Sherrye (Jeffrey) Woods of Joliet IL, Veronica (Jimmy) Martin, and Lakendrick Smith of North Carolina, Tyrone Smith, William Smith and Cassandra (Leroy) Wade of Tuscaloosa, Ala, Micheal Smith of Mississippi. A bonus child/Grandson Ja’Micheal Smith of Tuscaloosa, Ala. One brother Roosevelt Williams of NY, three sisters Sarah Williams, Nancy Williams of NY and Bertha Williams of Ala. Grandchildren; Jeffrey, Travis, Joshua, Johnathan, Deangelo, Aeisha, Darnisha, Kiara, Enriqueta, Kimeka, Tynisha, Jaylia, Latoya, Aaliyah, and Amiya. Several prince’s and princesses of great grandchildren. Sister-in-law Willie Mae Camble , Doris Draine of IL and Velma Williams of Michigan, brother-in-law Earl Smith of Mississippi. Special friend: James Micheal Cooper, Mammie Sneed, Tomethel Todd and Rose Tate. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and church family and friends. Through our wonderful memories, the life and legacy of Vernice Smith will forever live on.
Service to be held at Spangle Banner MB Church, Pace, MS @ 1pm
